Community & Support¶
If Mental Health is the clinical-substrate layer (dysphoria, minority stress, individual relationships, comorbidities), this section is the social-fabric layer around it: peer cohorts, online environments, public-facing community events, mentorship, harassment management, and the deliberate construction of chosen family. Peer support has measurable effects on transgender mental-health outcomes independent of formal care (Pflum et al. 2015; Bockting et al. 2013), and community navigation has its own skill set — distinct from individual therapy, distinct from disclosure to family of origin.
This section is about the social environment around you. For your own internal state see Mental Health. For your closest relationships (family, partners, kids) see Coming Out & Relationships.

Audience
This section assumes loose stability on the medical and personal axes — you have a clinician, you have a baseline, and you are now navigating the social environment around transition. New transitioners may want to read Mental Health and HRT first.

How to use this section¶
- If you're new to transition and looking for community, start with Online Communities and Local & In-Person Community.
- If you're being targeted online, Online Safety & Harassment is the operational page; for legal escalation see Legal § Discrimination.
- If you're navigating drama or community pressure, Horizontal Hostility and Internalized Transphobia.

- If you find yourself constantly fielding questions from cis people, Being Someone's First.
- If your demographic profile shapes which advice applies, Intersectional Considerations.
What's not here¶
- Specific community, server, organization, conference, or influencer recommendations. Frameworks only — the wiki does not endorse particular communities or figures. Recommendations rot; frameworks don't.
- Crisis intervention. Route to the crisis lines above and to Mental Health → Suicide & Safety Planning.
- Individual-relationship work (family of origin, partners, children) — that lives in Mental Health → Coming Out & Relationships.
- Trans history or trans political organizing. Important topics, out of scope here.
- Pediatric or adolescent community considerations. Different communities, different ethical landscape, out of scope.
