Family & Parenting

This section is the operational parent-child and intergenerational-family layer of the wiki. It owns the question: how do you actually do parenting and family work as a trans-feminine person, day to day, year over year, across the developmental arc of children and across the aging arc of older family members?

It deliberately sits next to — and does not duplicate — five existing layers:

Layer Lives in Owns
Fertility-medical (sperm cryo, TESE, IVF cost matrices) Long-Term Care → Fertility What gametes are available and how to preserve them
Family law (custody, divorce strategy, parentage) Legal → Marriage & Family Law Statutes, case law, jurisdictional mapping, attorney-driven decisions
Disclosure-relational (telling family, partners, breakup statistics) Mental Health → Coming Out & Relationships The disclosure event and immediate adjustment arc
Chosen-family construction Community → Chosen Family Building family-equivalent ties outside legal/biological frames
Dating ecosystem (where people meet, chaser typology, app categories) Community → Dating & Partner Community Dating-pool shape, not parenting
Operational parenting + intergenerational family work (this section) family-parenting/ Doing the parent role through transition; navigating institutions on a child's behalf

The scope test for any candidate page: does the work happen primarily inside the household, with children, with co-parents, or with extended family — over months and years, after the disclosure event and outside the law-firm office? If yes, it lives here.

Family-law strategy must be developed with a licensed attorney in your jurisdiction

The cost of a mistake in custody, divorce, or parentage matters is permanent. This section provides operational frameworks for day-to-day family work; it does not substitute for legal counsel. Any reader navigating an active custody dispute, hostile co-parent, divorce involving children, or parentage acknowledgment should treat Legal → Marriage & Family Law as a prerequisite read and engage a family-law attorney before taking operational steps.

Audience

This section assumes you are a parent, are becoming a parent, or are navigating intergenerational family work as a trans-feminine person. New transitioners without children may want Coming Out & Relationships first. Adolescents are not the audience — pediatric and adolescent gender-affirming care is out of scope and routed conservatively to clinicians.
